We bought an A-frame in 2018 with the intent of doing a major renovation....again. We had just completed a total renovation on a sprawling ranch in 2017. The funny thing is, we saw the A-frame first, but it was under contract before we could put an offer in, so we went with the ranch. When we discovered that the A-frame was on the market once again, we jumped at the opportunity. It was really the property that sold us. It is on 5 1/4 acres with both trees and pasture. It has a barn and a big building that is perfect for my studio/workspace. The area is fairly secluded and quiet. While we haven't started the major renovation yet, we have been doing other projects. One area that we just completed is my home office. It is in the loft area at the top of the A. It is a small cozy space, but perfect for my needs. One mistake I made is not taking "before" photos. It didn't occur to me until after we had started. Here are the "during" photos.
I knew I wanted a bright a cheerful space and, of course, that meant color and pattern. I also had always envisioned a bench under the window. There used to be a very dated sconce to the side of the window and I had the electric moved above the window. The angle of the walls made furniture a bit tricky. I decided I would prefer to have a desk built into the wall and also a custom bookcase. I added our Bullseye wallpaper and had a custom bench cushion made with our Moondance fabric. I added several of our pillows and customized one with a fun monogram. For my desk, I added some of our colorful accessories, including a mousepad pencil cup and a journal.
I love the way it turned out and am so happy to work in this colorful space!
